Northern lights in Florida? There's a chance tonight England player ratings: Verdict on Nations League defeat against Greece | England

The Phillies entered the NLDS like Rocky Balboa and walked out like a bunch of Spider Ricos.

And the collapses in the City of Brotherly Love live up to their reputation after the Phillies flopped in the NLDS against the Mets and were dismantled by their rivals in four games.

“You know what hurts the most? You lost to the Mets, man,” said Philadelphia sports personality Hunter Brody. “They lost to a team where Hawk Tuah threw out a first pitch. You lost to a team that had a damn purple monster (Grimace) jumping up and down. Their stars showed.”

It's been a tough year for Philadelphia's sports teams. The Eagles, Phillies and 76ers all suffered disappointing postseason exits, two of which came against rival New York teams.

The Knicks knocked out the 76ers in the first round of the NBA playoffs, albeit as favorites, and the Mets compounded the misery by upsetting the NL East champion Phillies.

While the 76ers lost a hard-fought series to a higher-seeded team, the Fightin' Phils proved to be anything but.

They went out with a relative whimper behind an anemic offense and an atrocious bullpen.

“If I'm looking for something to hold on to, I can say, 'You know what, they played great and lost to a better team, but next year will be better and we know that, they're up.' the advance.' “I don’t think so,” said Michael Barkann of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Analyst Ricky Bottalico agreed, predicting an unpleasant offseason for the franchise.

“I feel like there will be a lot of changes. I have a feeling a lot of fans will be upset about some of these changes, but I think they will be the right changes. They go up and down the ladder, they climb down the rungs,” Bottalico said. “That’s not a good sign considering going to the World Series, the NLCS, now just the NLDS. This is a team that has been good enough to win a World Series for the last three years, and you know what happened? Nothing. They came away empty-handed and I don't think there's a single fan around here who's happy with how this season ended, and no one should be. This is a team that should go beyond the NLDS.”

Both the NBC show and Brody relied on a strong Phillies lineup that looked weak compared to the Mets' pitching, with the team scoring 12 runs in the four games but just five in the three losses.

Stars like Kyle Schwarber (2:16) and Trea Turner (3:15) didn't show up when it counted, and Alec Bohm (1:13), JT Realmuto (0:11), Bryson Stott (2:11) and Brandon Marsh (1:13) apparently started their vacation early without telling anyone.

“If you leave Bryce Harper on second base after a leadoff double in the sixth, shame on you. If you keep Nick Castellanos at third base because JT Realmuto doesn't know how to hit in four games, he hasn't had a hit in the NLDS and is hitting 2-0 pitches with lazy pop-ups that don't hit him . Don't move runners. This is unacceptable,” Brody said. “Trea Turner is a waste. This contract will bite you in the ass for many years to come. …And don't even get me started on how much he sucks at the plate. What do you swear by?

He added: “We had to bench (Bohm)….We had to bench him.”…Their catcher doesn't exist. … Our best offense is dribbling against (Mark) Vientos. That’s the best thing you have offensively?”
