GENOA, Nevada – If you've noticed there are more motorcycles on the road than usual, it's because Street Vibrations is bringing around 35,000 riders to Reno this weekend. I watched a car driving onto Highway 395 nearly hit a motorcyclist Thursday afternoon. Keep an eye out for the drivers.

With street vibrations and candy dance vendors popping up all the time these days, Nevada's oldest settlement may well be its busiest. Unless you are in Genoa for business or need to use the Foothill to Jacks Valley Road, I would suggest an alternative route.

While Candy Dance is the biggest thing this weekend, it's not the only thing. The first Bear Festival will be held at Spooner Lake Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Markleeville will host an arts festival at the library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Historians David and Gayle Woodruff will be at the Minden Mill Distillery on Sunday, just a few blocks from where Mary Pickford was divorced in Minden in 1920 so she could marry Douglas Fairbanks.

The pair portray Reno Divorce Ranch characters Clive and Vivian Sterling to tell the story of Reno's divorce industry in the 1930s and '60s. https://www.exploretock.com/minden-mill-distillery/event/505365/the-reno-cure-a-living-history-presentation or call Woodruff at 760-920-8061 for more information .

Speaking of Minden and traffic: the people who work on the 10Th On Thursday, the new curb was poured onto the sidewalk, blocking The Record-Courier's entrance for most of the day. If you use the alley from Lucerne to 10Thyou could end up in a bowling situation.

The forecast high for Saturday has deviated from the predicted 90 degrees. Now it will only be 89 degrees, on Tuesday it will be 90 degrees. Maybe we'll see some fall weather by the end of next week, maybe not.

A high temperature of 87 degrees is forecast for today, with sunny skies and a calm northerly wind at 5 mph in the afternoon.
