Fans filled the Delta Center in pregame celebrations before the Utah Hockey Club's opening game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The celebration transformed the area into a lively celebration of the arrival of professional hockey in Utah. Despite not having tickets, many fans came along to experience the electric atmosphere and cheer on the event.

“This is probably the biggest crowd we've ever seen,” said Katie Pham, one of thousands enjoying the activity outside the arena.

MORE about the SEASON OPENER:

Even though Pham and her family didn't attend the game, they couldn't resist the excitement.

“We’re just here to see what’s happening and to be part of it,” she explained, noting that ticket prices kept her out. “We have a big family, so maybe next time.”

Pham is no stranger to major sporting events and compared the NHL festivities to her experience at NBA All-Star Weekend earlier this year.

“We came for the All-Star experience and did a lot of activities at the Gateway,” she said. “Any chance to support Utah and experience something new is pretty cool.”

University of Utah student Jackson also joined in on the celebration, changing his evening plans at the last minute to attend.

“I’m going to watch the concert, maybe take part in the activities and grab something to eat,” he said.

Although Jackson did not attend the game, he is looking forward to future encounters when UHC plays the Penguins in Salt Lake.

For Corey and Emily, the night was about celebrating the debut of the Utah Hockey Club and the NHL's presence in the state.

“An overtime win would be the perfect start,” said Corey optimistically. Emily added: “We’re happy either way – just happy to have NHL hockey here.”

Whether attending the game or simply soaking up the pre-party atmosphere, fans embraced the excitement of professional hockey in Utah, making the evening a memorable one for everyone who attended the celebration.
