Today on Pinstripe Alley – 10/8/24

The one-two punch of a single terrible innings on the mound dooming you and an offense that strands runners left and right can be pretty brutal. The Yankees lost Game 2 of the ALDS and ceded home-field advantage to the Royals as we travel to Kansas City on Wednesday and Thursday. Just like all other Division Series, it is now a best-of-three game, and there is no guarantee of seeing the Yankees back in the Bronx in 2024. If the Royals win both at Kauffman Stadium, it's over. So… uh… please don't let this happen? Maybe actually drive in a few of those sitting ducks on base? Introduce! Whatever.

Today on the site, Madison will recap what happened yesterday in other ALDS action, while Matt will name his Player of the Game for last night and Jeremy will give his own in-depth reactions to Game 2. Later, Kevin will pen an off-day entry for the 1999 Yankees Diary in which he discusses the exploits of their team's MVP, Derek Jeter, who may be having a career year. Nick S. will argue why he would have chosen Luis Gil over Clarke Schmidt at the start of Game 3. (Stay tuned for tomorrow when Nick P. will present the pro-Clarke case.)
