“Tom Brady Has Fierce Response to Baker Mayfield's 'Stressed Out' Remark”

Tom Brady Didn't hold back when sharing his thoughts on the current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker MayfieldMayfield's latest dig, in which Mayfield claimed his predecessor's intensity caused the team to be “stressed” and not have “fun” during his tenure as QB.

“I found it stressful not having Super Bowl rings,” Brady, 47, said while commentating on the Buccaneers-Philadelphia Eagles game on Sunday, September 29. “I had the attitude of a champion that I took to work every day.” This was no daycare. If I wanted to have fun, I would take my kids to Disneyland.”

Brady continued, “There's a way to approach this game and that's with the right mindset and trying to push each other out of our comfort zones.”

Brady pointed out that former teammates – including Rob Gronkowski – do exactly that. “The expectations for us are high,” Brady continued. “We need to make sure we go out and deliver.”

Mayfield raised eyebrows when he took a swipe at the NFL legend during an appearance on the “Casa de Klub” podcast in early September.

“The building was a little different with Tom in it. Obviously Tom is different in terms of play. He was talking to everyone, the atmosphere was tense, so I think everyone was pretty stressed,” Mayfield claimed. “They wanted me to come in, be myself and bring a little bit of the joy of football back to people who weren't having as much fun. And simply continue to increase the level of competition. … As a player, you really can’t ask for much more.”

Brady briefly retired from the NFL in 2022 before leaving the league in 2023. During his career, Brady won seven Super Bowls – including Super Bowl LV in 2021, where he led the Buccaneers to victory.

After leaving the sport in 2023, Brady returned to a broadcasting role earlier this month after signing a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox Sports in 2022.

Brady's debut received mixed reviews, but he noted that he “certainly had a lot of fun” in a video he posted to his YouTube channel earlier this month. “Definitely things to clean up. It’s all a learning process, man,” he said.
