As the Huskers return to action Saturday at Memorial Stadium, the Nebraska State Patrol is urging fans to prepare for heavy traffic and hot temperatures.

The Soldiers, with support from NSP AirWing Soldiers, will work to ensure safe travel on area roads. Fans should prepare for traffic congestion as they approach downtown Lincoln. NSP also encourages fans to check Nebraska 511 for the latest information on construction zones and any detours that may be necessary. Fans can hear traffic reports from Trooper Brett before and after the game on the Huskers Radio Network broadcasts.

The Nebraska State Patrol works closely with partner agencies on various aspects of gaming operations. Troopers work with the Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, UNL Police Department and the Nebraska Department of Transportation to ensure the safety of fans traveling to and from the game and in and around Memorial Stadium.

At the stadium, fans can text UNLPD at 402-472-0800 to reach stadium headquarters if they need assistance. Anyone needing assistance can also contact any police officer, officer, deputy, security or event staff member in the game. Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s at kickoff. Fans should stay hydrated and watch their fellow fans for signs that they are being affected by the heat.

During the first four home game days of the season, police officers arrested 35 people for driving under the influence. NSP encourages all drivers to always have a sober driver.
