Verizon confirmed it experienced its second outage in a week on Monday, leaving some of its wireless customers unable to make calls to landlines.

“Some Verizon Wireless customers experienced a brief service interruption while making landline calls this morning. The outage lasted several minutes and is now resolved,” Verizon said in a statement to CBS News.

The service interruption came exactly one week after a nationwide failure Many customers were unable to make phone calls for most of the day.

During the initial outage, wireless customers reported having no service. Apple said they were able to use their phones in SOS mode, which allows them to make emergency calls, including 911, by connecting to other wireless carriers.

Complaints from Verizon users to tracking website DownDetector.com spiked around 8 a.m. ET on Monday, with nearly 7,000 customers reporting problems with wireless calls in U.S. cities.
