Davante Adams: All I can control is what I do next New superstar WR moves to the Pittsburgh Steelers

In recent years, trainers on The voice only had one song's length to decide whether they wanted an artist on their team based on a completely blind audition. The blinds are intended to reduce a person to their voice only, without the character, physicality or stage presence they bring to the performance. But for the first time in 26 seasons, thanks to Coach Replay, coaches will have the opportunity to pick up artists based on their Blind Audition song.

Here's how to watch

Regard The voice Mondays at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.

As host Carson Daly explained during the Season 26 premiere, the Coach Replay gives coaches a late opportunity to catch artists they missed during the blind audition. After the artist's song ends, the trainers all turn around to meet the artist, although no one turns around to learn a little about them. Sometimes this brief interaction is enough to change a coach's mind, and with Coach Repetition they can do something about it.

Viewers didn't have to wait long to see how the coach replays would turn out. Reba McEntire used hers to grab Kendall Eugene after his blind audition, and on Monday night Snoop Dogg simply used another one.

Gail Bliss performs “If It Hadn't Been for Love” by the SteelDrivers in Durning The voice Season 26 Blind Auditions

Gail Bliss, a 61-year-old flight attendant from Little River, South Carolina, is the oldest performer in this season's show. She grew up singing with her father and sister in their home in southern Oregon. Bliss' father was a musician himself and had the chance to work with RCA records at the age of 30. He turned down this opportunity to start a family, but the seeds of singing were planted and blossomed in his daughter, who has been dedicated to music for decades.

“In 1994, I was cast as Patsy Cline and toured in a theater show called A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline. I was brave, full of courage and determination, I led that band just like Patsy Cline. I played this role for 30 years.

To mark her 60th birthday, Bliss set out to do six “epic things,” listed in an ambitious list. These included pulling out of the Patsy Cline show, a big birthday party, a visit to New Zealand, a sailing trip in the Bahamas, attending an Ohio State University homecoming game, and auditioning for The voice. Bliss had already checked off five of those goals, with only one remaining. “I'm here at The voice” she said. “If I don’t do this now, when the hell am I going to do it?”

At her blind audition, Bliss performed “If It Hadn't Been for Love” by The SteelDrivers, evoking a raw country-blues style. For the first few bars, Coach Snoop grooved in his chair, then the dancing gave way to a riot as his hand hovered hesitantly over his big red button. He almost turned around, he obviously wanted to turn around, but he didn't. It looks like he started beating himself up as soon as the song ended. Still, Bliss smiled as she introduced herself to the coaches.

“Last but not least, I want to inspire older people to keep dreaming, keep living and keep having fun. That’s where I come from,” Bliss said.

“Gail, I’m so glad you were on this show,” McEntire said. “That’s very important for people to dream big and go for it, and I could just kick myself for not turning around.”

Meanwhile, Snoop was still at it.

“My mother’s spirit is in me right now. My mother's sister was named Gail and she was one of my favorite aunts. You couldn't see me, but I had my hand like that the whole time (hovering over the button), Snoop said. “But they added a piece to the puzzle this year, the coach's replay. So, for example, if I pressed this red button right now, you would be on my team.”

And he pushed the button and immediately added Gail Bliss to Team Snoop.

“I wanted to push, but I didn't because I was waiting for Reba. I knew if Reba pushed, I would lose,” Snoop said. “She has stage presence; She had a look that looked like she was a fucking superstar.”
