Harvest in the Bellagio Winter Garden

Bellagio Conservatory's fall exhibition, Harvest, is open 24 hours a day and is available to view now through November 9thTh for free. While the conservatory looks and smells like fall, the weather here in Vegas still feels like summer. The average daytime temperature in October is around 80°, with nighttime lows rising dramatically to 50°. This is perfect outdoor weather, especially if you want to take advantage of the hiking trails and outdoor areas; However, keep in mind that the weather in October can be unpredictable and changeable. So keep a close eye on the weather forecast and be sure to pack accordingly. Depending on the weather, seasonal pools begin closing in October. So if you're hoping to have one last pool day in Las Vegas, be sure to check with the property you're staying at for more information.

F1 construction begins on the Strip

In most cities, October is the time of year when the leaves change color and taste pumpkin spice. Here in Vegas it's time to prepare for Formula 1. The Las Vegas Strip is already being prepared for the event (which takes place in November), with track lighting being installed directly on Las Vegas Blvd and lane closures on Las Vegas Boulevard, in front of Bellagio. The potted trees will be removed and track lighting and event grandstands will be raised. This means that the sidewalk in front of the Bellagio fountains is closed. If you want to see the Bellagio fountain shows, you can see them from across the street at Paris and Planet Hollywood, from the bridge that connects Bellagio to the Cosmopolitan, or from the bridge that connects Bellagio to the Grand Bazaar Shops.

Bottle blonde construction

Speaking of Grand Bazaar Shops, construction at Bottled Blonde has really gained momentum and is scheduled to open in 2025. Next door in Paris is the exterior of the Versailles Tower as well as the bridge that connects Paris to the Versailles Tower inside Horseshoe completely.

Tropicana

We can't talk about construction without mentioning Tropicana, which closed its doors last April.

Tropicana

The property is scheduled to implode at 2:30 a.m. on October 9thTh. This event has led to an increase in room prices and viewing parties are even held. For example, the Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay hosts an implosion party that is sold out. This is the site of the future MLB stadium for the A's.

Halloween Fremont Street

Halloween is of course a big event here and extends over several days. The biggest celebration takes place at the Fremont Street Experience, which runs over several days in addition to the actual Halloween night and gets very crowded!

Old Igor Fremont St Experience

There are plenty of bar crawls and costume contests at various clubs throughout the Vegas Valley. Halloween is a really fun time to visit Las Vegas and we always get asked if people dress up. Some are, some aren't, and honestly, some you can't tell if it's a Halloween costume or not because, after all, it's Vegas.

Of course, these are just the special events that are taking place and all regular Vegas shows are still happening. There are so many smaller shows in Vegas that should definitely be added to your list. We recently enjoyed two shows that have been happening in Las Vegas for decades: “Marriage Can Be Murder” and “Purple Reign.” Both shows were also featured on our television show Ninth Island Connection, which airs nationally in all Cox Cable markets on YurView.

Marriage can be murder

Marriage Can Be Murder is a comedic murder mystery dinner theater show that draws audiences into the interactive show. The show's creators and stars, Eric and Jayne Post, keep the audience captivated and laughing as they try to figure out the “mystery.” Marriage Can Be Murder is located at The Orleans, right on the Strip. Purple Reigm, courtesy of Jason Tenner

Purple Reign is a must for music lovers, especially those who like music icon Prince. Jason Tenner created and stars in this award-winning show, held at the V Theater in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. With live performances of classic hits from Prince as well as Morris Day and The Time, audience members can't help but dance and sing along. For more information, visit www.purplereign.net

As always, be sure to stay up to date on any events you plan to attend, as events are being canceled and added daily in Las Vegas. Also, be sure to check the policies of both the artist and the venue if you plan to attend an event, as many venues and artists have restrictions on what content is allowed. For the most up-to-date information about Las Vegas, be sure to check out our weekly live on our YouTube channel, Ninth Island Connection. We go live on Wednesdays between 12pm and 1pm PST to let you know what's in store for the coming weekend.

Whether you're a Las Vegas local or just visiting Ninth Island, be sure to come out and explore this beautiful state! For more information on each of these destinations, watch this video or tune in to Ninth Island Connection on YouTube or YurView (Channel 14) on Wednesdays at 9 p.m.
